Ex-Kano Commissioner Dumps NNPP for APC

Abbas Abbas, a former Kano State Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, has left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to GOODY NEWS, Abbas was among six commissioners dismissed by Governor Abba Yusuf during a cabinet reshuffle in December 2024.

Ismail Mudashir, the Media and Publicity Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, disclosed Abbas' defection in a statement on Saturday. 

The announcement was made during Abbas' visit to Senator Jibrin’s residence in Kano on Friday night.

During the visit, Abbas was warmly received by Senator Jibrin, Kano State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, and other party leaders. The former commissioner committed to advancing the APC’s mission across Kano State and beyond.

In the statement, Senator Jibrin described Abbas as a committed grassroots mobilizer and reaffirmed the APC's dedication to fostering good governance, inclusivity, and a better future for Nigerians.

“The APC is broad enough to welcome all patriots,” Jibrin stated, adding that the party remains steadfast in its efforts to promote the principles of good governance and service to humanity.
