Saudi Arabia Declares Wednesday to be Eid-el-Fitr, the fast continues

The Shawwal moon was not sighted, according to Saudi Arabia, which said today that the Ramadan fast will keep going on Tuesday, April 9.

This was made public on the official Facebook page of Haramin, which serves as a global forum for the Muslim community. In addition, it said the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr, which ushers in a new Islamic month, was going to take place on Wednesday, April 10.

Saudi Arabia failed to observe the crescent moon. Eid Al Fitr will thus be observed on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

May Allah accept our siyām, qiyām, and a'māl, may He grant us the ability to spend the remaining moments of this auspicious month doing what pleases Him, and may He grant us the chance to celebrate additional Ramadans in good health. Āmīn," it said.

Muslims in Nigeria, however, will probably hold off until later in the day, when Sokoto's Sultan and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa'ad Abubakar, will issue a declaration.

In honor of Eid-Fitr, the federal government declared Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, to serve as public holidays on Sunday, April 7.
