APC's National Vice Chairman, Mr. Isaacs Kekemeke, has announced his bid for the Ondo State governorship race under the ruling party's banner.
This announcement comes ahead of the party's primary scheduled for April 20, 2024.
With around 15 party chieftains vying for the primary ticket, Kekemeke, who previously contested in the 2020 gubernatorial election but lost to the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, stated that he is now better prepared for the governorship role.
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Akure, Kekemeke emphasized his experience and readiness to lead the state towards socio-economic prosperity and peace.
He asserted that his ambition is not impulsive but rooted in a genuine belief that he can contribute to the state's progress.
Kekemeke also highlighted the need for experienced leadership, alignment with the Federal Government's Renewed Hope program, and a focus on technology to enhance government revenue and create wealth.
Among his goals are fostering a peaceful and prosperous environment for citizens and leveraging information science and technology for economic advancement.
Kekemeke positioned himself as a tested leader with a
track record of service to the state, emphasizing his qualifications for the
gubernatorial role.
Other aspirants within the party include Governor Lucky
Aiyedatiwa, former Commissioner for Finance Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, former House
of Representatives member Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin, former Special Adviser to
Governor Akeredolu on Health Prof. Francis Faduyile, and former APC
governorship aspirant Chief Olusola Oke.
