The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has denied the claims of reducing petrol pump prices, stating that reports of a price decrease attributed to them on Wednesday are baseless.
This response came after rumors circulated about a potential drop in prices for Premium Motor Spirit and Automotive Gas Oil, which were reported in certain media outlets (excluding PUNCH Online).
NNPCL's Chief Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, dismissed these speculations in a statement released to the press. He urged the public to disregard such rumors.
In the statement, Soneye clarified, "NNPC Limited wants to clarify that there is no truth to the rumors of a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) at our retail stations nationwide.
These reports are untrue, and we urge Nigerians to ignore them completely."
NNPC Ltd reiterated its commitment to maintaining the
current supply sufficiency of petroleum products across all its retail outlets
in the country.
