The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Benin Republic has provided reassurance to Nigerian students in the country amidst ongoing investigations into degree mills.
These investigations have led to the suspension of degree certificates from Benin Republic, Togo, and several other countries. NANS, represented by its President Ikenna Favour, has urged students to remain unfazed by fake news and has stressed the legitimacy and validity of degrees obtained from universities in Benin Republic.
The suspension of degree certificates from certain African countries by the Federal Ministry of Education followed an investigative report by Umar Audu from Daily Nigerian.
This report uncovered the operations of degree mills in Benin Republic, Togo, and other locations.
The president of NANS Benin has advised students to stay calm as comprehensive investigations are underway, and he has encouraged them to disregard any misleading information circulating online.
NANS-RB is actively collaborating with the Nigerian Embassy in Benin, university registrars, management teams, lecturers, and stakeholders both in Nigeria and internationally to provide support to Nigerian students.
A
committee, headed by Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman, has been
established to address the issues raised in the investigative report and to
propose effective solutions.
