Unknown attackers have set fire to the police divisional headquarters in Nneni, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, with the assailants using explosive devices to cause damage to the building.
Reports suggest that the attackers were trying to free some inmates but were unsuccessful due to the swift response of police officers on duty.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the attack, stating that there were no casualties or hostages.
He mentioned that the assailants threw improvised explosive devices
(IEDs) at the police facility, resulting in a fire that damaged parts of the
building. Ikenga praised the bravery of the police officers who repelled the
attack and stated that ongoing operations would address the situation further.
