Lagos Police Arrested Eight Suspected Robbers on a Wanted List

 

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended eight individuals suspected of being involved in armed robbery, all of whom were on the police's wanted list. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, this development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday.

Hundeyin elaborated that these suspects, affiliated with two separate criminal syndicates, were apprehended following weeks of covert and thorough investigation. Allegedly, these individuals have been targeting Lagos residents, engaging in armed robberies and forcefully seizing vehicles.

While some of the suspects were detained within Lagos State, others were traced to Iwo in Osun State and Ibadan in Oyo State by detectives.

The age range of the suspects reportedly falls between 22 and 32 years old. Furthermore, Hundeyin revealed that these individuals are also accused of the murder of a police officer and the theft of his rifle in the Iju Ishaga area of the state on December 9, 2023. It was noted that the rifle has since been recovered during the initial arrests.

The seized items from the suspects include one pump-action rifle, five locally-made pistols, 30 live cartridges, and various charms.

The statement also highlighted the prevalent issue of armed robbery cases across the state.
