Armed Assailants Murder Two Ekiti State Monarchs
Two traditional rulers in Ekiti State have fallen victim to
a fatal attack, believed to have been perpetrated by herdsmen.
This tragic event unfolded in the area between Oke-Ako and
Ipao-Ekiti, situated within Ajoni Local Government Area, on the date of January
29, 2024.
The victims were the rulers of Imojo Ekiti in Oye Local
Government Area and Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area. They were
ambushed by the attackers during their return from a meeting.
As reported by Oodua News, a third ruler, the Alara of Ara
from Ikole LG, narrowly escaped the attack. The assailants confronted them,
opened fire, and subsequently stripped them of their belongings before dragging
their bodies into a nearby bush, as narrated by a witness to Oodua News.
