NPVNBO Commends President Tinubu, Knocks Bayelsa Govt Over Comments On Pipeline Surveillance Contract 

The National Probity and Value for Nation Building Organisation (NPVNBO) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renewing TANTITA Security Company's Pipeline Surveillance Contract. The organization's spokesperson highlighted the effective measures taken in combating crude oil theft over the past year.

 

The group particularly commended the capture of the MT KALI vessel and its crew by TANTITA Security, owned by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Bayelsa State's Pennington Oil Field. They noted that MT KALI had previously targeted this location for crude oil theft, accumulating about 200,000 liters of stolen oil, posing a significant risk to the nation's economy and environment.

 

President Tinubu's unwavering dedication to rescuing Nigeria from economic and security challenges was lauded by the NPVNBO, urging national unity in support of his efforts. The organization also recognized former President Buhari's contributions to combating crude oil theft.

 

Adewale Balogun, speaking for NPVNBO, acknowledged TANTITA Security Company and the NNPCL for their robust and effective services in protecting Nigeria's hydrocarbon resources. Key achievements include:

• The arrest of seven vessels involved in crude oil theft over the last year.
• NNPCL's record profits following a reduction in crude oil theft.
• Increased foreign exchange earnings due to higher crude oil production.
• Financial empowerment of federal and state governments, aiding development projects.
• Renewed investor confidence in the oil and gas sector.
• Improved environmental conditions in the Niger Delta.

Decreased crime rates in the Niger Delta due to employment opportunities provided by TANTITA Pipeline Security and Surveillance Company.

However, the NPVNBO criticized Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for his contradictory remarks on the pipeline surveillance contract. The organization called his stance ambiguous and flawed, emphasizing the importance of integrity and strategy over political correctness in awarding such contracts.

 

The group urged President Tinubu and the NNPCL to disregard negative comments and continue their fight against crude oil theft, asserting that their efforts have already hindered criminal activities significantly.

 

The NPVNBO also remarked on the irony of Governor Diri's criticism coinciding with the MT KALI incident. They suggested that the proceeds from crude oil theft might be influencing people in high places.

 

Finally, the organization called on President Tinubu to be resolute in combating crude oil theft, regardless of the consequences, and proposed introducing security and theft metrics in oil-producing states. States failing in these metrics should face penalties and FAAC fund deductions.

 

In conclusion, the NPVNBO commended the collective efforts of President Tinubu, NNPCL, the NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, TANTITA Pipeline Surveillance and Security Company, the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police Force, and the NCDSC in their ongoing battle against crude oil theft.
